Composition
Each tablet contains:
- Letrozole – 2.5 mg
- Excipients – q.s.
Pharmacological Effects
Letrozole is a non-steroidal competitive inhibitor of the aromatase enzyme, which is involved in estrogen biosynthesis. By inhibiting aromatase, letrozole reduces estrogen levels in the body, which can slow or stop the growth of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer cells.
Indications
- Adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer.
- Extended adjuvant treatment of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women who have received 5 years of adjuvant tamoxifen therapy.
- First-line treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive or unknown advanced breast cancer.
- Treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women with disease progression following antiestrogen therapy.
Recommended Dose
- The recommended dose of letrozole is one 2.5 mg tablet taken orally once daily.
- Treatment continues for as long as the patient benefits from therapy.
Side Effects
Common side effects include:
- Hot flashes
- Increased sweating
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Nausea
- Bone pain
- Weight gain
- Edema
Serious but less common side effects may include:
- Cardiovascular issues (e.g., hypertension, thromboembolic events)
- Osteoporosis or bone fractures
- Mood changes or depression
Contraindication
- Premenopausal women
- Women with known hypersensitivity to letrozole or any of the tablet’s components
- Pregnancy and lactation
Storage Conditions

- Away from direct sunlight and moisture
- At a temperature not exceeding 30°C (86°F)
- In the original packaging to protect from light and moisture
- Out of reach of children
